I spent late Monday afternoon sitting under the tree in Franklin Square Park where Reggie’s body was “found.” Trying to glue the pieces of this strange puzzle together.

Let’s see…Two Giants fans have been killed, one a good friend of mine, the other left for me to find in my Seals Stadium section, with the victim’s wallet “left” at my place. That sure seems personal. But then there’s these shady shenanigans going on with Candlestick Point. The city grand jury foreman is trying to mess things up for Horace Stoneham and Mayor Christopher, and who knows how many dangerous pinko sympathizers may be helping HIM? But if that’s what this is all about, then what’s their beef with me?

At least the Giants were having a less-confounding day off, on their way to Cincy for a quick 2-game showdown with the red-hot Redlegs. I had picked up the out-of-town Bugle on the way over to the park, to bone up on the standings and let my old pal Archie lighten the mood…
